Who We Are

More Than a
Competition

Mister Afrikana International is a global platform built for men of African descent. We do not reward noise. We reward the man who trains, thinks, leads and carries his people with him.

Our Story

Built As
A Declaration

Mister Afrikana International was not built as a response to exclusion. It was built as a declaration of presence. For too long, men of African descent have competed on stages that were never designed with their history, their culture or their identity in mind. We are here to end that permanently.

We are the brother house to Miss Afrikana International. Two houses, one conviction: representation inspires possibility. Put a man on a stage that was built for him, hold him to a standard that does not bend, and he will change what the world believes about him.

Mission & Vision

What We Are Here To Do

We did not come to be watched.

We came to be counted.

Our mission. To find, forge and platform men of African descent whose strength is matched by their substance. We exist to turn raw potential into visible leadership, giving a generation of men the stage, the standard and the brotherhood to build something that outlasts them.

Our vision. A world where men of African descent are seen in full, as builders, fathers, founders and leaders. One heritage, many nations, one future, where the measure of a man is what he lifts, and who he lifts with him.

Our pledge. Every season funds real work: scholarships, mentorship and community projects led by the men who wear the title. The title is not the finish line. It is the funding, the microphone and the mandate to go back and build.

The Pillars

The Eight Pillars

Every contestant is measured across all eight. The title goes to the man who carries them all.

Strength

Physical power. Real discipline. Earned in the dark, not announced.

Intelligence

Strategy, thinking and adaptability when the clock is against you.

Leadership

Inspiring others. Creating change that outlasts the applause.

Endurance

Mental and physical resilience. Still standing in the last round.

Culture

Representing a global legacy with pride and precision.

Brotherhood

Men supporting men. No man rises by pulling another down.

Purpose

A bigger vision. A brighter tomorrow for the next generation.

Excellence

Raising the standard. Every single day, on and off the stage.

The Work
Starts Here

A title is a platform, not a prize. What our men build with it is the point. Every season runs programmes in leadership, health, culture and education, funded by the platform and led by the men who wear the title. The stage is the beginning, not the end.

Leadership Labs

Free mentorship and public speaking training for young men in underserved communities.

Strength & Health

Community gym partnerships promoting physical and mental health for men.

Culture Fund

Grants for grassroots projects preserving and exporting African heritage.

Mentorship Network

Titleholders paired with young men for a full season of guidance and accountability.

Scholarships

Fund The Man,
Not The Night

Every season awards education bursaries to causes chosen by the men who wear the title. Tuition, tools, training and certification, paid directly, with the receipts published.

We are not interested in a photograph of a cheque. We are interested in what a man can build once he is not paying for permission to learn.

The Founder

Ms. Abena Akuaba Appiah is an entrepreneur, advocate and one of the most decorated figures in modern pageantry. She is the Founder and President of Miss Afrikana International, and the founder of Mister Afrikana International.

Her record speaks before she does. In 2020 she became the first Black woman and the first American to win Miss Grand International, beating delegates from more than sixty countries. She had already taken Miss Grand USA, Miss Earth Ghana, Queen Beauty Universe in Spain, Miss Universe Ghana and Top Model Ghana.

Born in Ghana and competing for the United States, she spent a decade opening doors that were never built for her. Mister Afrikana exists because of what she learned doing it: give a person the stage, the standard and the support, and they change what the world believes about them.

the Judging
