Meet the Contestants

Not a Look.
A Standard.

We are not looking for a face. We are looking for a man who can carry a nation on his shoulders and still be himself when the cameras leave. Our contestants are teachers, founders, soldiers, doctors, farmers, engineers and fathers. The stage is the smallest part of what they do.

Character first

How you treat people when nobody is scoring you is the real test. We watch for it from the first email.

Built to serve

Every contestant arrives with a project that matters to the people where he lives. The title funds it.

Rooted and reaching

Know where you are from. Be able to speak for it, and to the world, without shouting.

Every contestant is measured across all eight pillars

Strength
Intelligence
Leadership
Endurance
Culture
Brotherhood
Purpose
Excellence

Eligibility

Who Can Compete

The rule is simple. If your people are African, you are eligible. Not the passport you hold, not the country you were born in. This is a global contest for men of African and diaspora descent.

Age 18 to 39

You must be 18 to 39 on finals day. Bring a passport or national ID that proves it.

Male at birth

Mister Afrikana is a contest for men. You must be male at birth and identify as a man.

African or diaspora descent

African heritage by birth, ancestry or lineage. Anywhere in the world counts.

A nation to represent

By birth, citizenship, residence or documented heritage. Proof is required.

Valid passport

You must hold a passport from your country of representation and be able to travel.

A project worth funding

Arrive with a community project or advocacy platform. The title exists to fund it.

The Camp

Where Men
Are Made

Before the finals there is the camp. Days of training, coaching and pressure, run by people who have stood on the stage and judges who will not be impressed by anything hollow.

Stage and presence

Walk, posture, stillness and command. How to hold a room of two thousand people.

Voice and interview

Speaking under pressure, thinking on your feet, and answering the question that was actually asked.

Culture and heritage

Researching the nation you carry, and presenting it with accuracy and pride.

Purpose and platform

Turning the project you arrived with into something fundable, measurable and real.

Contestant Handbook

What You
Are Signing Up For

No surprises. Everything a confirmed contestant is expected to do, bring and uphold, written down before you commit.

The commitment

Travel to the camp and the finals. Represent your nation at every scheduled appearance. Uphold the code of conduct on and off stage.

What you bring

Valid passport, proof of age and heritage, professional headshot and full-length photograph, and your project brief.

What we provide

Coaching, wardrobe guidance, accommodation during the camp and finals, and the platform to fund your project.

The code

Respect for every contestant, official and volunteer. No harassment, no discrimination, no conduct that dishonours the title.

Titleholders

The Men Who
Held the Title

Season 01 is the first. There is no alumni wall yet, because we have not crowned anyone. The first name on it is written on finals night, and every name after it has to live up to it.

Season 01

The inaugural titleholder is crowned at the Season 01 grand finale

Until then this wall stays empty on purpose. Come back after finals night, or be the reason it fills up.

Your Flag Is
Still Open

Somewhere on this page is the nation you can speak for. Find it, claim it, and take the slot before someone else does.
